Poland’s Coup and Reckless PM Tusk
Never forget this photo. This is the man who thought it was appropriate to publicly post a picture of himself making a gun gesture toward our President Donald Trump. And look at what is happening in Poland now.
Overnight, Poland was thrown into a serious constitutional confrontation. The president of the Constitutional Tribunal was illegally suspended by one lawfully vetoed by the President of Poland.
Riot police surround the court, protesters have filled the streets, and President Karol Nawrocki cut short his trip abroad and rushed back to Poland, saying the constitutional order was under threat.
Tusk calls it “restoring the rule of law.” His opponents are calling it a power grab.
Whatever political language people want to use, Poles should pay very close attention to what is happening to their institutions. This is bigger than left versus right. When a government starts deciding that extraordinary measures are justified because it claims to be “saving democracy,” every citizen should be watching.
I lived there and it doesn’t really surprise me. Please pray for Poland. I still have extended family there.
I wonder what this all can mean while Germany raised their threat level after capturing several drones armed with full explosives over multiple airports that supply Ukraine.
Kind regards
