No time to sit and read celticorthodoxy.com or watchman.news? Select your language, press Play, and take it with you.
We’re pleased to announce a major new accessibility upgrade across our online library.
More than 1,300 articles are now available to translate into your preferred language — and to listen to instead of simply read.
At the top of our articles, you’ll now find new language and audio controls. If English isn’t your preferred language, select your language first. Then press Play and listen.
That means an article can come with you while you’re driving to work, traveling, exercising, working around the house, or simply resting your eyes. You no longer have to find a quiet hour in front of a screen to explore material that interests you.
And this matters because our readership is increasingly international.
Across CelticOrthodoxy.com and Watchman.News, we are now seeing approximately 410,000 unique visitors per month and roughly 2.5 million monthly requests/views, with significant readership throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and beyond.
Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Singapore, China and other countries are all contributing substantial traffic, which makes multilingual access increasingly important.
One of our newest articles alone has already generated roughly 1,200 requests, so current and high-interest material is being prioritized as the new audio system comes online.
Read It — or Listen Instead
The idea is simple.
If you find an article you want to read but don’t have the time, press Play.
If it isn’t in your language, select your language first, then listen.
The text translation itself is broadly available. Audio is a little more resource-intensive, so new audio editions are generally generated on demand rather than creating thousands of files in advance.
The first time a particular article or language is requested, the narration may take a short time to prepare. Once generated, however, that audio can remain available for future listeners without having to be recreated each time.
So over time, reader demand will naturally help us build an increasingly large permanent multilingual audio library.
Your Support Makes Features Like This Possible
This is another practical example of what your love gifts, tithes, offerings, subscriptions, and sustaining support help us accomplish.
Your support helps us:
• expand multilingual access
• provide natural-sounding audio editions
• maintain the servers handling hundreds of thousands of monthly visitors
• support the infrastructure behind millions of monthly requests
• expand our live broadcasting and media distribution
• continue developing new tools that make our research and ministry easier to access
As additional support becomes available, we can increase the number of new audio editions generated each month, improve narration quality, and continue expanding distribution.
So the next time you see an article you’d like to read but simply don’t have time to sit down and read it — press Play instead.
And if it isn’t in your language, choose your language and take it with you.
Thank you to everyone whose support continues to make these improvements possible.
Rev Dr Stephen M.K. Brunswick
